In 2008, Yonder Luxury Vacation Rentals started off as a gamble. Owners Steve and Donna Frellick had several high-end timber frame spec homes that had gone unsold, and with the financial downturn that year, they were really worried about what to do with these unsold properties.
They decided to list them as short-term rentals, and immediately were able to get bookings. So much, in fact, that they decided to shift their business model from selling homes to renting them—managing not only the properties they own, but the properties of other owners as well. Today, Yonder is a wildly successful company, with over 170 properties under management in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountain region of North Carolina.
“(Beyond) has been able to help us in two major ways: taking the guesswork out of pricing and providing us with critical insights into how our portfolio is performing against the market."

As with every single successful business, however, it doesn’t just happen magically or overnight. It takes dedication, passion, and hard work. And as Mark Bastin, Yonder’s Chief Marketing Officer, will tell you, it also takes a little help from the outside.
“Beyond is like an extension of our company,” he says. “They’ve been able to help us in two major ways: taking the guesswork out of pricing and providing us with critical insights into how our portfolio is performing against the market."
"...Our future is bright, and with Beyond, we’re excited to see what comes next.”
Being able to leverage Beyond to make data-driven decisions has been incredibly important in conversations with Yonder’s owners. “Having Beyond has helped us a lot in home acquisition for our portfolio. It gives new owners a sense that Yonder is ahead of the curve with our revenue management strategies. We can show owners that by using Beyond, we’re able to generate 17-18% more in revenue for them,” Mark said.
As Yonder looks to the future, Mark feels optimistic. “Since our beginning, it’s been Yonder’s mission to provide exceptional customer service to our owners and an incredible guest experience for our visitors. We not only survived the pandemic, but saw an increase in interest in short-term rentals (as opposed to hotels). Our future is bright, and with Beyond, we’re excited to see what comes next.”
