In our latest Going Beyond blog post, our series that aims to show what it’s really like to work at Beyond, we spoke to Harshit Chaturvedi to learn more about his experience on the Beyond team and growing his career.
Harshit is an Implementation Specialist and discusses his journey to Beyond, experience, and what he loves most about being part of our dynamic company.
I am based in India and am an Implementation Specialist at Beyond, which is a part of the Customer Experience Team. As an Implementation Specialist, I focus on the onboarding of our users. My responsibilities begin with understanding their requirements, goals, and expectations.
It is vital that their onboarding journey is as smooth as possible and we meet their expectations and quality standards. In order to do that, I meet with the users on a regular basis to discuss the detailed implementation plans which might include outlining the steps, timelines, and resources needed to onboard them successfully.
To start with, Beyond is a scaling startup in an industry that I had never worked in before. When I stumbled upon the role and the company, I was hooked on the impact that Beyond creates for its users.
I have been in this role for close to 5 months and I feel it is a place where we don’t just preach our core values but actually practice them every day. People from every team are encouraged to ship, iterate, and improve which has created a significant impact on our users and solidified us as leaders in the vacation rental industry year after year.
I have been working remotely for the last 3 years but working in the European time zone for the first time. I think the European time zone suits me perfectly as I am not a morning person. On top of that, it gives me enough time in the morning to do whatever I want for myself.
Since my teammates are based out of Barcelona, most of the conversations happen over Zoom. But we are pretty consistent in communication, be it regarding work or just a casual chat about a newly adopted dog. We meet every week but also are part of some cool Slack channels to talk about things outside of work.
I think when you are one of the first 10 employees in a new office, you always feel that you are and will be part of the future growth. It is like building something new where you get to brainstorm new ideas about your office and pave the way for upcoming Beyonders.
I always wanted to be a part of the DEI committee. At Beyond, when I got that opportunity, I didn’t have to think twice about it because I have always wanted to be a part of a team where I get to contribute to creating a workplace where every individual feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute their unique perspectives.
We have a lot of fun and interesting activities and plans coming up for our Beyonders that range from Mental Health Activities to learning sessions and many more.
The people and the transparency in the communication across teams. More than just that, if you feel like you want to learn more about somebody else’s role or if you are interested in being a part of a different team, the managers are helpful in curating that path for you. At Beyond you are always learning and your opinions are heard without any biases or judgments. You are pushed and given the freedom to innovate and come up with new ideas and solutions. And with doing all of this, we also don’t forget to have fun.
